Roadway Animal
Detection System

The first-of-its-kind in Singapore, the Roadway Animal Detection System is an algorithm-based system that utilises video analytics to determine if an animal is crossing the road.

Surveillance cameras are installed to detect animals when they are near the road. The camera system is equipped with artificial intelligence analytic technology and machine learning, which enables improved recognition of target animals and increases detection reliability.

When the presence of animals are detected, the linked LED Advance Warning Sign will be triggered and flash to alert motorists, who will have more time to reduce vehicular speed, locate where the animals are and avoid these animals. The system was first launched in 2019, and has since shown an accuracy rate of close to 100 percent.
