Designing for Life Roadmap
Designing the best possible homes for Singaporeans is an ongoing, iterative process. In 2020, the Housing & Development Board (HDB) launched the Designing for Life Roadmap, which is centred on the overall health and well-being of residents, to provide them with a better living environment at all stages of their lives.

Smart HDB Town Framework
The Smart HDB Town Framework introduces smart technologies into our homes to improve our daily lives.
One such technology is the energy-efficient LED lighting with motion sensor installed at staircases which will brighten when it detects human traffic, potentially reducing energy usage by up to 60%.

HDB Green Towns Programme
Launched in 2020, HDB’s Green Towns Programme aims to make existing HDB towns more sustainable and liveable with large-scale implementation of green features and smart initiatives. Such initiatives include the implementation of solar panels and cool coatings.

Health District @ Queenstown
In October 2021, Queenstown was designated as the testbed for the development of a Health District, intended as a testing ground to trial integrated solutions that enhance the well-being of residents throughout their various life stages.

Kampung Admiralty
Kampung Admiralty is the first-of-its-kind development in Singapore, which integrates housing for elderly with a wide range of social, healthcare, communal and commercial facilities.
Beyond the facilities, Kampung Admiralty has also been designed with a variety of communal spaces to encourage community involvement and ownership.

Punggol Northshore
Punggol Northshore is the first smart and sustainable public housing district where the Housing & Development Board (HDB) has test-bedded smart technologies to create a more liveable, efficient, sustainable and safe living environment for residents.

Assisted Living (Fall detection technology)
As part of on-going efforts to enhance the living environment for seniors and support ageing in place, the Housing & Development Board (HDB) has partnered with commercial vendors to introduce fall detection packages to HDB households. Interested HDB households can subscribe to fall detection packages, which includes an option for a 24-hour care monitoring and response service.

HDB Smart Hub
HDB Smart Hub is a centralised data repository that harnesses data collection to gather insights on residents’ feedback, facilities usage and other estate services for our homes to be environmentally sustainable in the long run.

Smart Distribution Board (DB)
The Smart Distribution Board (DB) enables residents to monitor their household energy consumption through a compatible mobile application. This allows residents to make informed decisions to adopt lifestyle adjustments to improve their household energy usage. The Smart DB also facilitates the adoption of compatible smart home solutions and automation products.

Community Care Apartments
The Community Care Apartment is a public housing concept that aims to expand the continuum of housing options for seniors today. It integrates senior-friendly housing with care services that can be scaled according to care needs and social activities to support seniors to age independently in their silver years within the community.
